Beauty Tag: 30 Questions

Hey there! It’s been a little while since I’ve posted. I’ve just been feeling under the weather a lot lately. My allergies really got to me last week, and having chronic illness/pain kind of limits me from doing very much. So I just haven’t felt up to doing much of anything. I really wanted to post something though, so I thought I would ‘Google’ beauty tags online and came across this one. I do plan on writing another post within a few days hopefully…

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?

I really can’t remember a specific item, but I remember when Bath & Body Works had makeup, and buying some of their makeup. I also used Almay a lot too in high school. Though I’m pretty sure that the first item had to be something Wet n’ Wild, in middle school that is.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

Finding the perfect mascara is kind of like trying to find a unicorn. I’d like one that lengthens & volumizes, separates the lashes, has zero clumps, and does not flake off. The closest one that I’ve found to meet those expectations, is the Maybelline Lash Sensational. I’ve tried many different mascaras, but I always go back to that one. Another drugstore favorite of mine is the Covergirl Super Sizer. I still have quite a few mascaras to try out, so I’m hoping to find my holy grail one day soon!

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

I prefer a buildable medium coverage. Full coverage is nice as long as it doesn’t feel too heavy. I also don’t care for a matte finish too much. It makes me feel like my face is going to crack and break.

4. Favorite high end brand?

That’s a really tough question. I would have to say it’s either Tarte or Jouer.

5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

I really want to try Charlotte Tilbury, Natasha Denona, or Makeup Geek. I cant believe I haven’t tried MUG yet. I have no idea why I haven’t.

6. Favorite drugstore brand?

I love Wet n’ Wild, Nyx cosmetics, and L’Oreal. That’s a hard choice to make!

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?

Occasionally. If I have time and am not in a rush, I love wearing them!

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

Well I leave the house a lot without any makeup, so that’s not really an issue for me. I would probably feel a lot better if I could at least put on some concealer, powder, mascara, brows, and lip gloss.

9. What is your most cherished beauty product?

I’d have to say my eyeshadow palettes. Those can be really expensive! Like the one in the featured image for this post… 😉

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

I shop for new makeup way too often. We’ll leave it at that. I always say I need to go on a no buy or at least a low buy.

11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?

I try to be thoughtful with my purchases. Sometimes the hype gets me, you know? Being a beauty blogger, you usually spend any extra money you have on trying new products. I keep saying this to myself, but I need to declutter a lot of old makeup or makeup I just never really used. It’s time to downsize!

12. Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

Oh yes! I love shopping at Ulta the most. I love their rewards program. They always have coupons, and you can activate their 3x or 5x points offers. The points really add up, and then that’s like actual money you get to spend on products in their store.

13. What type of product do you buy the most of?

It has to be lipstick, because you can never have too many everyday pinky-nudes, right?

14. Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?

There really isn’t, though I choose to not buy anything from Jeffree Star. That’s all I will say about that. That is my preference…

15. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

Not really. I should try to be more aware of the ingredients I put on my face though.

16. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

Like I already said, it has to be Ulta! I love their points system, and they have a great variety of products for every budget.

17. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?

I just keep with the same skincare products. My routine is very simple. I can’t really try a bunch of new stuff having Rosacea. I really don’t want to anger the beast.

18. Favorite bath and body brand?

I like Bath & Body Works, though I haven’t bought anything from them in a long time. I usually just pick up some body wash from the grocery store. I would say The Body Shop, but I feel like they don’t have much to choose from when it comes to scents lately.

19. If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

Urban Decay, because I know I love their Naked foundation & Concealer, There really isn’t too many things from them that I don’t like.

20. What brand do you think has the best packaging?

I love theBalm’s packaging and Tarte’s.

21. Which celebrity always has great makeup?
I don’t really pay too much attention to celebrities, but I really like Jennifer Lawrence.

22. Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

I’m in a couple of Facebook groups if that counts? I don’t usually post too much, but I like seeing what everyone else posts.

23. Favorite Beauty Gurus

I don’t watch too many bigger channels, but I do like watching emilynoel and thataylaa.

24. Do you like multi-functional products like lip and cheek stains?

I never really use them. I don’t know why, it’s not like I don’t like them. I just never really think to use them.

25. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

I have my moments. I’ve poked my eye out with a mascara wand quite a few times, stuff like that.

26. Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

Yes I do. My favorite eyeshadow primer is the Milani eyeshadow primer. I think that using my Tarte Shape Tape concealer on my lids works pretty well too. It covers up the little veins I have going on.

27. How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

Usually none, because 98% of the time I don’t do anything with myself. When I wear my hair straight, I use some hairspray. If I wear it wavy, I use some mousse/gel and hairspray. Though of course I always use shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in detangler.

28. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

Foundation first, then concealer.

29. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

I think it would be fun, but I’ve learned a lot from watching videos online.

30. What do you love about makeup?

Makeup is fun. Makeup makes me feel good about myself, it enhances my features. Makeup is art and it’s a way to express myself.

I hope that you enjoyed reading my answers. Feel free to do this tag on your blog if you’d like. I’d love to read your answers, please let me know if you do this tag. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!

Boxycharm August 2017: Beach Please

Hello there beautiful faces! I think I’m on a little roll with this weekly posting thing. That’s my goal, it’s great to set goals. I hope everyone is enjoying their week. Who got to watch the eclipse on Monday? My Mom had purchased the special glasses way ahead of time, so she shared them with me. I got to check it out without burning my eyes. There will be another one in 2024 actually. If I get to travel to Toledo, OH for it, then I would be right in the direct path! So exciting!

In this post, I’m sharing what I received in this month’s Boxycharm. Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription service. You get 5 full-sized items! No deluxe or small dinky samples here. Though, deluxe samples can be nice too. This subscription is $21/month. Taxes are applied to Florida and Connecticut residents. The shipping is free in the United States, but it is an additional $5 for each box for Canadian subscribers. Boxycharm only ships within all 48 contiguous states and all provinces/territories in Canada.  They state on their website that they hope to ship internationally in the future. There is a waiting list usually, though I only had to wait a few weeks when I resubscribed this past winter. Occasionally, they do wave the waiting list…it doesn’t happen too often, but it’s great when it does.

I think this subscription is a great deal because you get about $100 worth of product for only $21/month! Sometimes it could be a little over $100, or maybe a little less. Either way, you get to try out some more “high-end” brands such as Tarte, PÜR Cosmetics, Ofra, and even a couple of more affordable brands such as Colourpop. The CEO/Founder announced himself, that a few of the brands that we will see in boxes for the remaining of this year (2017), will be MAC, Becca, Cover FX, and more! There is also supposed to be more Dr. Brandt as well.

This month’s theme is “Beach Please.” The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette (Volume II) is perfect for this theme. The Tarte palette is definitely the “star of the show” in this box. Some people love Tarte eyeshadow palettes, and some not so much. I love them very much, so this palette is such a treat for me. ❤

2

Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Volume II Eyeshadow palette

This is a limited edition palette, it contains 8 cool-toned shadows. There are volume’s I and III palettes as well. On the Tarte website, it claims that these shadows are a crease-free formula, and a very creamy formula. Since this is a post just about what I have received in this month’s box, these are my first impressions that I get from the finger swatches done without primer…

3

Going from top to bottom are the shades: pearl (white shimmer), rip tide (steel blue), breezy (shimmering slate), siren (dark brown), seaside (chestnut), marina (caramel), sunset (yellow gold), and conch (off white).

Judging from the finger swatches, these shadows look really pigmented, and they did feel creamy to the touch. I’m really excited to add this palette to my collection. I love the cool tones in this palette, even though I tend to gravitate more toward warm tones. I like having something a little different in the mix. This palette retails for $36 on the Tarte Cosmetics website.  However, it is listed for $18 at this moment on the Sephora website. I am not sure how long it will be listed for that price.

I really love mermaids, and I feel like this palette will look really nice with my mermaid beauty decor I’m going to set up. Just look at the packaging of the palette itself in the picture down below…

5

I am just loving the sea theme! ❤ Excuse my little quilt as the background. I haven’t gotten to the store to pick up some new white boards for my photos. I really had wanted to have tested these products out for this post, but I have been feeling under the weather this week. It’s been a really rough week for me concerning my health. I just thought I would do a post to talk about Boxycharm the subscription itself, and share what I got this month. You will recognize the feature image from Instagram. I like to reuse those for posts when I can. I am also reusing photos from my instastories/snapchat. I thought why not, I’m not feeling up to retaking new pictures, so these will have to do.

Beauty Crop #GRLPWR Matte Liquid Lipstick in Date Night

Next up, is the Beauty Crop #GRLPWR Matte Liquid lipstick in the shade Date Night (rasin brown). Beauty Crop claims that this liquid lip is intensely pigmented and long wearing. It’s also supposed to be comfortable to wear, it contains shea butter and Vitamin E. It’s not supposed to “cake, flake or dry out.” This is such a beautiful shade!

7

In the picture above, it’s freshly applied and hasn’t quite dried down matte yet. I think this will be beautiful to wear in the fall, or anytime really! I;m excited to try out the formula and I hope that it lives up to the expectations of being a comfortable matte. This lipstick retails for $14.95 and can be purchased on the Beauty Crop website. ***Edit: Reviews on this liquid lipstick aren’t very good at all. I’m reluctant to even try to apply it. Everyone says it comes off & balls up very quickly, and it’s very drying. Such a bummer!***

Moda Pro 3-piece Brush Set by Royal & Langnickel

You not only get one makeup brush, but a set of 3 makeup brushes! This set contains a pointed blush, chiseled blender, and a crease brush. These brushes are very soft and can be used with both wet and dry products. The Moda Pro brushes, will not be available until this fall on the Royal & Langnickel website. The Boxycharm website lists this brush trio for $26. You may have seen some of the Moda oval brushes at your local Walmart store. I actually have a set, I just haven’t gotten into them yet… #beautybloggerstruggles

Pro Eyelashes by PÜR The Complexion Authority in Diva

Next, we have the PÜR Pro Eyeslashes in Diva. These are cruelty-free luxe lashes, and these are “handcrafted by the finest luxury silk to provide ultra-lightweight, natural looking, fuller lashes.” Is being made from silk cruelty-free? Or maybe it’s “faux-silk,” does that it exist? I don’t know too much about silk…but these are supposed to be durable, reusable, and safe for contact lens wearers. If anyone has any insight about silk or “faux silk,” let me know in the comments section. These retail for $14 on the PÜR Cosmetics website.

9

Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Ebony

Last but not least, the Bellapierre Waterproof Gel liner in the shade Ebony. Bellapierre claims that this eyeliner is creamy, waterproof, and lasts all day. It’s supposed to glide on smoothly and is “formulated with pure minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants-making them hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types.” This eyeliner comes in 6 different shades on the Bellapierre website, and retails for $15. From the little swatch that I did on my hand, it looks like a typical black or black/brown gel eyeliner. I probably wouldn’t pay $15 for it. It is cruelty-free, so you could factor that in as well.

Well that’s all that came in the box. I hope to use these products soon and post a look with them on social media. I could also come back and do an update post on what I think after actually using these products. I would like to start including what I receive from my monthly subscriptions each month. I would also like to be sure to try out the products ahead of time to give you my opinion on them. I hope that is something that you would like to read about. I always love reading and seeing what everyone gets in their monthly boxes or even what they purchase in their ‘hauls.’ If you would like to subscribe to Boxycharm, you can click HERE on my referral link, you don’t have to. I hope that you enjoyed this post! Thank you so much for stopping by and reading! Have a great week! 🙂 xxoo

Jouer Springtime in Paris

Hey there beautiful faces! ❤ How’s your week going? Mine hasn’t been too eventful. My boyfriend and I recently took my Mom out to lunch for her 60th birthday. That’s quite a milestone! It seems like there are a lot of people I know that have their birthdays in August. Anyway, enough with the small talk. We’re here to talk about the Jouer Cosmetics Springtime in Paris Eyeshadow palette. Jouer is a new favorite brand of mine. You might recognize the feature image from my Instagram. I just recently ordered and purchased this palette from the Jouer Cosmetics website. *I am only starting to use it, so as a disclosure, my thoughts in this post are only my initial thoughts.* I also ordered the powder highlighter in Rose Gold and the high pigment lip gloss in the shade “Champs-Élysées.” Champs-Élysées is an avenue in Paris, France by the way. I’m not really THAT sophisticated, I just googled it.

20170816_224918

This palette was inspired by the cherry blossoms lining the streets of Paris. it contains 12 shadows. There are 8 matte shades, 4 metallic shades, and 1 satin shade. I think that’s a pretty nice mix myself. The plastic packing is a light blush pink with a shiny gold design on the cover. This palette seems like it would be very easy to keep clean, which is nice. There is a nice-sized mirror inside the palette, and I think this palette would travel well. A couple of times, when I tried to open it, it was a little bit of a struggle. So, it’s pretty secure!

20170816_224959

The shades in this palette are wearable for any time of the year, and you could get many looks from it. I see myself using the darkest shades more as liner shades. For some reason, I always get a little scared to use dark shades on my lids themselves, maybe this palette will help me overcome that fear.

Here are some watches. These are finger swatches without any primer. That’s how I usually do my swatches.  Here are the top row swatches…

20170816_225031Crème (warm matte creamy vanilla), Petal (cool matte baby pink), Mauve (cool matte mauve), and Aubergine (cool matte deep eggplant).

Middle Row…

20170816_225052

True Gold (warm metallic gold), Camel (warm matte light brown), Midnight (cool metallic navy blue), and Rouge (warm metallic burgundy).

Bottom Row…

20170816_225117

Cinnamon (warm metallic chestnut), Ash Brown (deep matte ash brown), Amethyst (warm satin purple), and Slate (cool matte graphite blue).

I listed the shade names and their finishes according to what the Jouer website lists them as. It seems like some of the mattes still have some traces of fine glitter in them. I’m wondering if that’s just because they are stored with metallic shadows, and it spreads around in the palette? Let me know what your thoughts are on that. The shade Midnight, isn’t as pigmented as I thought it would be when I swatched it. Of course, add some primer or use a wet brush, and it could be just fine on the lid. I did use it as a liner shade on my lower lash line. You will see that in the pictures down below. I probably should have sprayed some setting spray on my brush to get Midnight to pop more on my lower lash line, and maybe even extend the wear time.

Jouer claims these shadows are crease resistant and are long-wearing. Well, I totally screwed up testing that…After I got home from lunch today, I took a nap in the afternoon. I fell asleep for 5 hours! The shadows were still there when I woke up, and still visible on my lids. I did’t notice too much creasing either. However, since I was sleeping, it’s hard to really judge their performance. I’m so so sorry for that! I was really tired!

Tip: If you’re ever having trouble with a shadow’s pigmentation: A) Be sure to use a good eyeshadow primer. My favorite is the Milani Eyeshadow Primer. B) Try applying the shadow to your lid using your finger. Not the most ideal way to apply shadow, but it definitely helps in some circumstances! (C) Try wetting your brush, spray your makeup brush with setting spray before application.

20170816_114129.jpg

For my eye look: I used Petal as an all over base, Camel as a transition/crease shade, True Gold all over the lid, Ash Brown for the outer corner, Crème as a brow bone & inner corner highlight, and Midnight on my lower lash line.

20170816_114044

I didn’t use any liner on the top lid, I didn’t want it to take away from the eyeshadow.  I used Urban Decay Perversion Mascara on my Top lashes, and Tarte’s Maneater mascara on my bottom lashes. The Maneater mascara seems to work great for that, and it’s also great to use for when you’re applying false eyelashes.

20170816_114514

The True Gold shade didn’t show up too well on my lid in this picture. It shows up more like a gold “sheen.” I was just going for a more neutral everyday look, with a pop of color on the lower lash line. On my brows, I used the Milani Brow Fix Kit in Light and the Essence Make Me Brow gel in blondy brows.

20170816_114001

For the rest of my makeup…I used the Glossier Moisturizing Primer, Cover FX Natural Finish Foundation in the shade N0, W3ll People Bio Brightener Invisible Powder, Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Bali Sands, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in dollface, Bareminerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder in Glow, and Urban Decay Chill Setting Spray to set my makeup. On my lips, I used the Jouer High Pigmented Gloss in Champs-Élysées, which I love! ❤ The perfect “my lips but 10x better” shade. It’s very smooth, creamy, and pigmented! I love that it’s NOT sticky whatsoever! I completely forgot to use the Jouer highlighter in Rose Gold. It slipped my mind! Maybe I will do a post on highlighters soon.

Overall, I love the Jouer Paris in Springtime palette.  I feel like it was worth it, and am so glad I purchased it! I thought about getting the newest Jouer Shimmer Foils palette, but I’m not quite THAT fancy! Haha! 😀 Maybe I will change my mind about it later…I don’t know. A link to the Jouer Paris in Springtime Palette is HERE. That’s it for this post! Thank you so much for stopping by and reading! Have a great week!

New Product Favorites

Hey there! I am back writing a post…finally! I meant to get this post up sooner, but I had a lot going on. It just seems like summer has been really busy with moving and everything. I wanted to get a post up today, because I am going out of town for a couple of days this weekend with my boyfriend. We’re finally doing something fun on his days off. We’re going somewhere neat, and maybe I will post some pictures on here next week. 😉

In this post, I just wanted to share some new favorites of mine that I’ve tried recently. These aren’t products that I’ve been using long-term, I’ve just been using them for a little bit. So my thoughts on these products are sort of like first impressions. I just wanted to disclose that. I thought I would choose 5 things that I’ve been using lately and am really loving!

20170723_171442

First up, is the Cover FX Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation. What drew me to wanting to try this foundation, was that it claimed to have a natural finish. I am more into natural finishes and satin finishes. With my skin type, I feel like a matte finish isn’t as flattering on me. Matte foundations are great for oily skin or even for combination skin. I guess my skin is more Normal to Dry. So when I put on a matte foundation, I feel like my face is stiff and and it just looks all wrong. I am getting older now and am in my 30’s, so I have some fine lines beginning to form. I feel like matte foundation just accentuates that on me.

This foundation is a water-based foundation. It is hydrating, and actually leaves you with a beautiful dewy finish. It’s very light feeling on the skin, and is buildable for a medium-full coverage. This foundation is meant for Normal to Dry skin types. However, I’m thinking they have other foundation(s) suited for Oily to Combination skin. This foundation contains Vitamin C and Vitamin E to protect your skin from free radicals. This foundation does NOT contain sunscreen, so definitely apply some sunscreen to your face beforehand. This foundation does NOT Contain Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, Fragrance, Gluten, Mineral Oil, or Talc.

I have the shade N0, which is for fairest porcelain skin with neutral undertones. They have 40 shades, and cater to a full range of skin tones. They have shades for pink, neutral, and golden undertones. You can check them all out here. They have shades for deep skin tones for women of color, and shades for very fair skin like mine. I am really impressed with their shade range. Here is a picture of a swatch of the Cover FX in the shade N0, compared to Urban Decay’s Naked Skin in 0.5, and L’Oreal’s True Match in Porcelain W1…

20170723_172735

The Urban Decay foundation has pink undertones, while the Cover Fx is more neutral. Of course, the L’Oreal has more of a yellow undertone. It was hard to get a good picture. I took this picture in natural light. Cover FX is listed online as being cruelty-free and vegan. It’s a great foundation, I think I like it even more than my Urban Decay Naked Skin. I’ve used a blending sponge and a brush to apply this foundation. They both worked really well, I didn’t feel like one worked better than the other. It was easier to achieve a more fuller-coverage using a brush. It just depends on your preference.

Next up, is the W3LL PEOPLE Bio Brightener Invisible Powder. It’s an ultra-fine loose powder that is supposed to look invisible, and it’s supposed to be a universal shade. It claims to blur fine lines, and soften imperfections. I think it definitely lives up to those claims. I like to use this with the Cover FX foundation, I’ve only used this combination together. My foundation does last a long-time, so it could either be the foundation itself and/or the powder helps as well. This powder is hypoallergenic, chemical free, cruelty free & noncomedogenic. It does NOT contain parabens, gluten, GMO’s, phthalates, sulfates, fragrance, pheonoxyethanol, dimethicone, PEG, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, lead, mineral oil, or talc. In the photo below, I blended some in on my hand. I didn’t want to blend it in too much, so it would still be somewhat visible, if that makes any sense? I don’t know, maybe I should’ve blended it in more so you can see it being invisible…

20170723_174217
20170723_174304

It actually really does blend into the skin very well. I ordered this from the Target website. You can also order it from the W3LL PEOPLE webite as well. On the W3LL PEOPLE website, you can order the full size pictured here, or a mini size. It does cost a couple more dollars ordering from the Target website. W3LL PEOPLE is not only a cruelty-free brand, but also a natural brand.

20170723_171559

This simple little palette is the Bh Cosmetics Matte Warm Eye To Go Palette – 6 Color Eyeshadow Palette. Unfortunately, this palette is no longer available right now on their website, which saddens me. I’m really sorry about that! I got this as a free gift when I ordered their Solar Flare Baked eyeshadow palette. They have other 6 color eyeshadow palettes here. I’m hoping that they will bring this one back though. Bh Cosmetics makes some great eyeshadow palettes that are budget friendly, and they’re another cruelty-free makeup brand. I do have to say, some of their products can be hit or miss. Just do your research though and read reviews. 😉

20170723_173048

Here are the swatches. All of these shadows are matte, as you can see. They’re nicely pigmented, blend well, and I think this little palette is nice to have when you want to create a simple look, and it would be nice to take along with you when you travel. I like using the cream shade as a base color for all over, and I like using the upper right corner shade in the palette and the lower left corner shade to use as a transition shade and as a crease shade. It’s nice to have something that I got as a free gift work out so well for me.

20170723_171902

This is the Glossier Cloud Paint in the shade Dusk, this is a blush with a gel-cream formula. If you don’t normally like cream blushes, you might actually even like this! It’s not greasy at all, it’s lasting, and blends into your skin so nicely and seamlessly. You can just use your fingers to blend it in. There are a total of 4 shades you can choose from. I also have the shade Beam, but I would love to get Puff eventually. You can check out the shades here.

In the pictures above, is the cloud paint in the shade Dusk. I have it blended out on my hand, so you can see kind of what it looks like blended out. You really don’t need to use very much and you can keep building it up to how you want it to look. The cloud paints were inspired by the NYC gradient sunsets. Glossier is another cruelty-free brand as well.

20170723_173937

Last but not least, is the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Bare With Me. Bare With Me is a peachy pink nude shade. I am normally wary of matte lipstick because of how drying it can be. I didn’t think this one was too drying. It was also long-lasting, though it did wear off toward the center of my lips, but that usually happens with most lipsticks. It felt light on my lips, I did notice slight transfer when I kissed my boyfriend on the cheek. It held up nicely though through eating and drinking.

20170723_174121

This is such a beautiful shade! I highly recommend it! I purchased this shade along with the shade Stone, from the Ulta Beauty website. Dose of Colors is only available online. You can also purchase from the Dose of Colors website. Dose of Colors is a cruelty-free brand as well!

In this picture, I am wearing all of the products I talked about in this post. You may recognize this photo if you follow me on social media. My cheeks look extra rosy in this picture because of my flushing from Rosacea…I just wanted to mention that real quick. Every product mentioned in this post is cruelty-free. I don’t buy all cruelty-free, but I am trying to be more aware of my purchases. Well that’s it for this post. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comment section down below. I will do my best to answer any questions. Thank you so much for stopping by and reading! I hope everyone has a great rest of the week! ❤

The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Hey there! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty uneventful, as usual it seems. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get this post up, because my laptop was being slow, but my boyfriend fixed it. Thank goodness for our significant others that have skills! I am going to be talking about one of my top favorite eyeshadow palettes in this post. My best friend Brooke, the bestest friend in the whole wide world!!! Got me this palette for Christmas, along with a few other nice things…some bare minerals things! I just want to give a shout out to her, and say “Thank you!” again! Brooke is a fellow blogger/youtuber. You can follow her here: Brooke-Leanne ❤ She also has a YouTube channel, which you can find on her blog. I believe her most recent post has a video in it.

20170325_013602

I have been using this palette for quite sometime now, and have used most of the shades in it. I’m sure many of you have read many reviews on this palette already. It’s not exactly brand new, but it’s new to me and maybe it’s something new to you. These gorgeous shades are infused with the sweet smell of peaches! If you are really sensitive to scents, then you might want to forgo this palette. I notice a light scent, nothing overpowering that I can detect. I don’t notice a scent lingering after application either. This palette contains 18 shades, and all of the pans in this palette are the same size. I’ve noticed in other Too Faced palettes, they have a couple of bigger sized pans for certain shades. Down below are pictures of what each shade looks like. These are finger swatches applied without a primer.

The First (Top) Row

20170325_012047

Left to Right: White Peach (matte vanilla cream), Luscious ( pearl peach champagne), Just Peachy (shimmering peachy pink), Bless Her Heart (Golden Moss), Tempting (Bronzed Black), and Charmed I’m Sure (matte medium cool brown).

2nd (Middle) Row

20170325_012547

Left to Right: Nectar (pearly peach cream), Cobbler (peachy pinked bronze), Candied Peach (matte coral with violet shimmer), Bellini (gilded peach), Peach Pit (satin perfect raisin), and Delectable (matte smokey amethyst).

3rd (Bottom) Row

20170325_012919

Left to Right: Peaches n’ Cream (matte milky peach), Georgia (matte peachy pink), Caramelized (dark gilded bronze), Puree (metallic dark bronze), Summer Yum (matte gingerbread), and Talk Derby to Me (shimmering black violet).

Aren’t those shades gorgeous!? Warm peach shades are some of the most flattering shades I can wear (I think so anyway ha!). Just looking at this palette gets me excited for the spring/summer time. These shades are very pigmented, apply beautifully, and blend out nicely. I find myself reaching for this palette A LOT! Not only is this palette beautiful, but the packaging is too cute! It’s set in a sturdy metal/tin type of palette. Though mine does have a little dent on the bottom…I don’t know how that happened, but oh well! I don’t know if it’s supposed to have a magnetic clasp, but mine doesn’t stay shut too well. So that is a downside, and something to think about if you plan on traveling with this palette.

20170325_013824

As you can see in the picture above, there is a mirror with the cute little sweet peach design. I don’t mind that it kind of blocks part of the mirror, I don’t usually use the mirrors too often in my palettes. In the next couple of photos, I am showing you a picture of my eye look that I created, and will have details about my makeup listed below as well.

Jouer Long-Wear Liquid Lipstick

Hello there! Long time, no blog! Well I don’t think it’s been too long, but long enough anyway. Who knew spring was going to come early this week? I hope you have the same warm and sunny weather I’ve been having here. I have a positive review for you here today, on the Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick. That’s the longer name for it anyway. I didn’t want to write ALL of that in the title of this post. Not that I haven’t had long post titles.

20170218_184157
“This weightless, long-wear liquid lipstick offers full coverage color with a soft-touch finish that glides on smoothly and lasts all day.” – Jouer website product description

I only have the shade Bronzed Rose so far, but I recently just ordered 2 more! Funny thing, is that I saw these on the Forever 21 website in the makeup section. They’ve actually added quite a few different brands. I was really surprised to see Jouer on there, and I had been curious about these liquid lipsticks. Last I knew, they still had the shade Penny on there, but that was it. I also ordered that shade from the Forever 21 website as well. The 2nd shade I ordered, was Dulce De Leche from the Nordstrom website. So, I am excited to try those shades as well.

20170218_184618

The Bronzed Rose, is a gorgeous metallic cool deep rose shade. It is full-coverage and goes on very smoothly. It feels light on the lips, dries down quickly, and really is long lasting. It lasted through eating and drinking. It’s not overly drying on the lips. Obviously, it’s going to be a little drying because it is a liquid lipstick. I normally don’t like liquid lipstick, but I am making an exception for this one. I just loved it so much, that I needed two more in different shades! I am really anxious to see if they perform as well as this one.

20170218_184501

The packaging is clear with a black top. The wand is a doe foot applicator, it’s a nice size, and it’s easy to use. Normally liquid lipstick has round packaging, where this one does not. It has kind of an indent on one side. I am thinking you can connect these together? I’m not completely sure, but I assume that’s why it’s there. If anyone knows for sure, let me know in the comments. I guess I will find out one way or another when I get the other two I ordered.

20170218_184746

The picture down below, was taken before I went out to dinner. So lipstick is fully intact. I paired it with my Laritzy lip liner in the shade Roseberry. Though I really don’t think you need to wear a lip liner with this lipstick.

16806967_1838482293079941_5447124420691410729_n

Here is a photo with how it looked after. It wore off a little bit toward the center of my lips. I really don’t think it looks bad though. I think it’s just the lighting in the picture and the shine on my lips that make it appear as though it came off more. If you look at my picture above, it pretty much looks the same, same lighting and all.

20170218_183156

Overall, I really love this liquid lipstick. I love it enough to buy two more, when they’re priced at $18 each. You might recognize my before picture from Instagram. Be sure to follow me on there, I will be posting what the other two shades look like. Well, that concludes this post. I hope you enjoyed it! If you have tried the Jouer liquid lipstick, let me know your thoughts in the comments. Also, don’t be afraid to just say hello! 🙂  Thanks for reading! ❤

Thank You Hippy Lip!

Hello there! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I’ll admit, that mine has had a bit of a rough start. I was meaning to get this post published much sooner, but it’s better late than never right? I won this amazing giveaway in December from Kristy from her blog Hippy Lip. She sent me the Sephora Favorites – Give Me Some Bold Lip set, along with a full-size Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in the shade Stepping Out. She also included a Colourpop highlighter in the shade Churro, which is extremely generous! Thank you so much Kristy! ❤

20170206_002848

First, I’m going to talk about the Give Me Some Bold Lip set. I will go over each shade and tell you my thoughts…

20170206_003408

[There will be swatches at the end of the descriptions. I am going in the order of most favorite to least favorite…I can’t tell you how long they wear for, these are just my initial impressions.]

Sephora Collection Rouge Cream Lipstick in R49 Belly-Dancing – This one was my favorite out of the bunch, and has become my perfect shade of red ❤ The formula is very creamy and very hydrating. I loved it so much, that I ordered the full-size. I also really want to check out the other shades in this collection. I highly recommend that you do too.

Ciate London Liquid Velvet Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Head Over Heels – This shade can be described as a “fuchsia berry” shade. I really liked this one as well. It felt really comfortable on the lips for being a liquid lipstick. I was really surprised with how smooth my lips looked after applying it. If you have a problem with liquid lipstick because it’s too drying, definitely give this one a chance!

Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Yaassss -This was definitely an interesting shade of purple to try. It is described as being Lavender. This one was lightweight, but a bit more on the drier side. Good exfoliation and some lip balm can help out a lot when wearing this lippy.

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Aubergine – Aubergine is a nice deep eggplant shade. The formula is matte yet hydrating. It doesn’t seem too over drying. I feel like Sephora picked some great options for bold lips with this set. This crayon is supposed to be waterproof, and I am looking forward to testing that out later.

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in An Affair -This shade is very similar to the Bite Beauty Aubergine crayon. You will see that when we get to the swatches down below. This shade is described as being a deep plum. The Bite Beauty is perhaps a little bit deeper of a shade. This lipstick is very moisturizing and has a satin-matte finish. I absolutely love the color of this one! The only reason that I put this lower on the list, is because it does bleed a lot. I didn’t use a lip liner, so obviously, you will need to use a lip liner with this lipstick.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Damned – This is one made it to the bottom of the list, not for it’s super dark color, but because it’s very patchy when you’re trying to apply it. That can happen with darker shades though, and this shade is described as black cherry. Does this put me off from trying other shades of the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick? No. I really want to try one of the lighter shades and see how well that performs. I heard the lighter ones work much better.

20170206_003936

Finally! The swatches! Going from left to right: Tarte’s Yaassss, Ciate London’s Head Over Heels, Sephora’s Belly-dancing, Bite Beauty’s Aubergine, Laura Mercier’s An Affair, and Kat Von D’s Damned. All of these shades were pretty hard to remove from my arm, especially Damned. That one did not want to budge!

20170206_004220

Next, I’m going to be talking about the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Stepping Out. I have the other Sephora Favorites Lip set that has the mini of this lipstick. So it will be nice to have a full-size to keep at home, and a mini one to throw into my purse. This shade is described as being a deep nude. To me it is a very brown-toned nude, but it’s a gorgeous shade! This lipstick has a matte finish, and claims to be long-wearing as well as waterproof.

20170206_004538

Such a gorgeous creamy formula! It’s very lightweight too! I also love the wand, which I have pictured down below…

20170206_004353

Now I’m going to finish up this post by talking about the gorgeous Colourpop highlighter in Churro…

20170206_004717

Churro has a pearlized finish and is a coppery peach shade, with gold shimmer and silver glitter. Colourpop’s highlighters are so smooth and have buildable pigment. Down below is a picture of what it looks like as a swatch and blended out.

20170206_005017

I have a couple of other Colourpop highlighters as well, let me know if you would be interested in seeing those. I could do a post, or even just some swatches on social media. OR I could even share with you all of my collection, which would have to be done on Insta-stories, or it would be a really long post to write! Anyhow, what are some of your favorite bold lip products? Or Colourpop products? Let me know in the comments down below. Thank you again to Kristy from Hippy Lip, I really appreciate everything you sent me! ❤ Definitely check out Kristy’s blog and give her a follow. She is an amazing blogger! 🙂 I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

Rose Tones: The L.A. Girl Nudes Eyeshadow Palette Review + Other Drugstore Comparison Swatches

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” I don’t know why, but that William Shakespeare quote came to mind when I was typing out the title to this post. In today’s post, I am going to be talking about a newer rose toned eyeshadow palette. I will also have some pictures of swatches from other similar drugstore palettes for comparison.

So yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I guess I just got caught up with the holidays and then got off track a little bit. I am sorry about that. I’m still trying to find my balance. I have my personal life, a little bit of a social life, and then there is this blog/social media life. You all get it, I’m sure. Anyhow, let’s get on with this post…

20170107_211254

Hmm, this palette might look a little familiar to some of you? It looks like the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to me, but it’s not. It’s the L.A. Girl Nudes palette. It could be a possible dupe, though I cannot say for sure since I don’t own the Naked 3 myself. This palette is apart of the L.A. Girl Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection. There are 3 other palettes in this collection, but they don’t resemble any of the other Naked palettes. The packaging isn’t my favorite. It’s like a flimsy cardboard, glued on to this plastic palette. It does have a mirror in it, but it’s not the greatest. Part of the flap has a little window to see the shadows, and the other part is a mirror just big enough to see your eyes when looking at it. There is a magnetic closure which is nice. It comes with an eyeshadow applicator/small flat brush. I’m sure some of you makeup snobs are turning your noses up right about now, but don’t discount the sponge tip applicator. Sponge tip applicators are extremely useful when packing shadow onto the lid.

20170107_212132

The picture above, doesn’t really do much justice for how it looks in person, but these shadows were surprisingly pigmented. Yes there is fall out, but I have yet to find a good eyeshadow that has none. That’s really not an issue for me though. This eyeshadow palette is very inexpensive, and contains 12 shades. On the L.A Girl website, this palette is only $10, and you can find L.A.Girl in select CVS stores. However, I didn’t get mine that way. My boyfriend was placing order on Amazon, and this palette showed up as an add-on item for only $6.49. He thought I would like it, and added it to his order. He did very good! Normally, I don’t recommend ordering makeup online if it’s not from the company’s website or a reputable website like Ulta/Sephora. This palette came from Amazon itself and not some other seller, so I thought it would be okay, and I’m still alive!

20170105_210017

20170105_210302

I really love this palette! It’s one of my new favorite palettes now. It blends out nicely, not that I’m a blending expert…but I feel like I will get a variety of looks from this palette. According to the L.A Girl website, they state that they’re cruelty-free, and they do not test their products on animals. I went to the PETA website, and they are listed as not testing their products on animals.

The L.A. Girl website only ships within the U.S and Canada. Though don’t be too bummed out just yet. If you visit ikatehouse.com, you can get a majority of their products shipped internationally, and they are an authorized reseller.

Comparison swatches from other similar drugstore palettes…

Makeup Revolution Iconic 3

20170107_213830

I really love this palette too. It’s very similar to the L.A. Girl Nudes palette. You get 12 shades in this palette as well. This palette is only $7 on the Ulta website.

20170107_214511

Maybelline Blushed Nudes

20170107_212736

I’ve had this palette for a long time now. I thought I really loved it at first, until I tried other similar eyeshadow palettes. Honestly, I don’t ever reach for it. It’s my least favorite of the palettes I mention here. Only a few of the shades are pigmented. This palette costs a little more, it’s listed for $9.99 on the Ulta website. I don’t think it’s really worth it though. Some shades, you can’t even really see…

20170107_213431

Covergirl TruNaked Roses

20170107_214850

This palette is newer to me, and I picked it up not too long ago. It only contains 8 shades, but I really do like this one a lot. I also have the nudes and the jewels version. I guess the only one I don’t have, is the goldens. This palette is listed for $11.99 on the Ulta website. It’s the most expensive one that I mention here. These shades are pretty pigmented, with the exception of the 3rd shade from the left blending into my skin tone. This is the only palette in this post, that has actual shade names. From left to right: Almond, Champagne, baby, rose gold, copper rose, dusk, mauvergine, and mousse.

20170107_215351

I’m sorry I don’t have the greatest picture quality in this post. I’m going to try to work on that. I think I need to try to work more with natural light. I am just more productive at night it seems. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed reading this post. I also hope that everyone is having a great start to 2017!

My Perfect Find: J.cat Beauty Cushion Compact Foundation

Hello there! How is everyone doing? I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas! Have you gotten your shopping done? I pretty much have mine done, but I have a couple of loose ends to tie up. In today’s post, I am going to be talking about a new favorite of mine from J.cat Beauty. J.cat Beauty is an indie brand, though they’re becoming more popular. You can find J.cat products on their website or some select items on the Ulta website. I first discovered J.cat through Ipsy, which is a monthly beauty subscription. J.cat Beauty has grown and added more products since I’ve been ordering from them. They’re a cruelty-free brand as well, and their products are reasonably priced.

20161217_155220

“ALL IN ONE ONE-STEP [SKINCARE + MAKEUP]” – J.cat Beauty website

This foundation is currently only available on the J.cat Beauty website. I had been wanting to order this foundation for quite a while, but my shade was out of stock. The shade I have is “CCC101 Porcelain,” which is the lightest shade. I usually wear the lightest shade in most  foundations. This foundation also comes in 7 other shades. They have swatches of all the shades on their website, and very detailed information, I’m pretty impressed!

“What it does?

Daily Sun Exposure 45+ Protector
*Flawless Natural Coverage
*Boost&Lock In Hydration
*Weightless Texture & Easy To Touch Up Makeup”

                                                                                       – J.cat Beauty website

The packaging is a black compact that reminds me of a hockey puck. It has a silver design and lettering on the front, and other detailed information on the back. When you open it up, it has a pretty nice mirror, and it comes with a flat black sponge-like puff for application…

20161217_155739

20161217_155848

When you lift up the sponge, underneath there is a cap that opens up containing a cushion with the good stuff…

20161217_155957

20161217_160055.jpg

It is important to keep the top securely closed when not in use, so that it doesn’t dry out…I’m assuming. It’s really easy to use. All you do it press your puff down on the cushion and it picks up the foundation. Then you use your puff to apply it to your face using a tapping motion. It blends evenly and easily, and I love the coverage! The coverage is anywhere from medium to high. You can layer it and it builds up very nicely. I usually do about 2 layers, and it really is weightless on the skin. It has a natural finish; which I really like, and it seems like it has a subtle, dewy type of finish. I have a ‘normal’ type of skin, with a couple of dry patches. This foundation is supposed to be good for all skin types. I feel like the Porcelain shade is a prefect match for my skin tone. I find that this foundation is lasting on my skin, and if you do need to do a quick touch-up throughout the day; the compact fits nicely in your purse. I think this would be great for those of you that are always on the go.

20161217_160359

The picture above, is a picture of the ingredients and information on the box it comes in. On the other sides of the box, there are also instructions and details about the compact as well. They also give you a great tip, you can fold the puff in half to apply in smaller areas; such as the corner of your eyes or around the nose. I purchased this compact for $17.99, which is not bad at all for the quality. When you run out, you can simply order a refill for $12.99. I will definitely be repurchasing a refill when the time comes. At this time, J.cat Beauty only ships within the U.S and Canada.

In the picture above, I am wearing this foundation. If you follow me on Instagram, you will recognize this photo from there…

Makeup Favorites

Happy December! I hope all is well with you. I can’t believe Christmas is almost here and 2016 will be over. Who is ready for a new year? I know I am! Today, I am going to be talking about my Makeup Favorites. I am not going to go too much into these products because this isn’t a review. These are products that I’ve been using for a while. I know everyone is posting their monthly favorites right now, but I just wanted to share with you my favorites that I’ve been loving lately…

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation
img_0215

I’ve been using this foundation for quite a while and it’s been the best foundation I’ve ever tried! At least for me that is. I was hesitant to spend $40 on a foundation since I had never bought a “high-end” foundation. I can tell you though, that it was totally worth it! I love it so much because it truly does feel “weightless” on the skin. Matte foundations seem to be a popular choice, but a lot of them felt really heavy on my skin. This demi-matte foundation makes your skin still look like skin, yet it has great buildable coverage. I wear the shade 0.5 which is a pretty fair shade with pink undertones. This line offers a wide variety of shades, which a lot of makeup brands are lacking. I really like the packaging and I love that it has a pump as well.

img_0216

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Powder
img_0217

Up next, is the ever popular Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Powder. Say that 5 times fast! What I love about this powder is how light-weight it is and it doesn’t settle into my creases. It has a very silky finish and I feel like it can be used with any skin type. I guess my skin type is “normal,” whatever normal is. I wear the shade 10 Porcelain and this comes in 7 other shades as well. I purchased this from Ulta for $10.99. I have a picture of what it looks like down below. No, my sponge isn’t really that clean. I just turned it over to the clean side for this picture.

img_0219

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer
img_0220

I’m pretty sure everyone in the makeup world has heard of this crazy popular concealer, and I’m sure it doesn’t need much of an introduction either. This sought after concealer is always going out of stock. Luckily, I happened to find mine one day in an Ulta store. I bought it not long after it came out. This concealer is full coverage, creamy, and doesn’t settle into fine lines. A little bit goes a long way! My favorite method of applying this, is to use my Real Techniques blending sponge. I have this concealer in the shade fair, which is described to be for “fair skin with pink undertones.” You get a lot of product with this and it has a huge wand. Definitely worth the $24!

img_0221

Essence Contouring Powder
img_0222

This budget friendly contouring powder by Essence has been a long time favorite. I specifically only use the bronzer part, since I’m not too keen on the highlighter. This is in the shade Light 01, and they also have the shade Medium 02. I feel like this shade of bronzer is a great option for fair skin. It blends really well and doesn’t look too overdone. You can pick this up for $3.99 at Ulta, or on the Essence website and Target’s website/select stores.

img_0225

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone
img_0227

My favorite highlighter lately, Moonstone is a pale gold shade that leaves a nice natural finish. No glitter chunks with this highlighter, Becca knows their highlighters! I actually purchased this in a set, The Glow On The Go Moonstone set for $20. I think that’s a great way to go if you don’t want to drop $38 on the full size version of this pressed powder. I purchased mine online from Ulta. The set also includes the Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in Moonstone. Which is the liquid version you apply with a wand. I haven’t used it yet, so I can’t really tell you how I feel about it. I’m definitely going to be pulling it out to use soon though.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer Pencil
img_0235

Anastasia knows brows, that’s a fact! I have never tried the Brow Wiz, I just went straight for the Brow Definer. Some people might prefer the Brow Wiz because it has a fine tip, while the Brow Definer has a thicker triangle-shaped tip. I feel like this tip covers more area and it doesn’t take as long to do my brows. I picked this up from Ulta for $23 in the shade Taupe, which is a nice light ash brown. I have also been using this along with the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe. The Nyx one seems to be a tad bit lighter and has the finer tip like the Brow Wiz. I like to use the Nyx pencil to get those inner small hairs, while I focus the Brow Definer on the tail ends. The difference in shades gives a nice effect.

The Brow Definer also has a spoolie at the end.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Mascara
img_0242

Another bargain treat from Essence, the Make Me Brow gel mascara is said to be a dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow. I wouldn’t know for sure because I have never used the Gimme Brow. I had my hands on it once, but passed it on to my Mom. I don’t know what I was thinking at the time, I wasn’t really into using a product like this and never tried it. Anyhow, This brow gel has a nice little brush that makes it easy to get to those little fine hairs. It’s tinted and contains little fibers to help fill in your brows. I really love it and it gives the perfect finish to my brows. I have the shade Blondy Brows 01. There are two other shades: Browny Brows 02 and Soft Browny Brows 03. I bought this for $2.99 at Ulta, what a deal!

img_0243

Mac Lipstick in Magic Spell & Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in In control
img_0248

These two aren’t something that I have been using for a long time exactly, but they’re already a favorite! I have received a lot of compliments wearing this combination. These two belong in a set that also came with the Vamplify Lipgloss in Tuned In. I assume you use all 3 of these together. I haven’t used the lip gloss yet. The lipstick on it’s own already has a nice shine. The set is called the Nutcracker Sweet Nude Lip Kit. The lipstick in Magic spell is a mid tone mauve nude with a cremesheen finish and the Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in In Control is a brown mauve. The Vamplify Lip Gloss in Tuned In is a mid tone rosy nude. I ordered this set online from Nordstrom for $39.50. Right now, it’s 20% off and you can get for $29.63. I will link it here.
