L’ORÉAL Paris Pure-Clay Mask: Exfoliating & Refining Treatment

Hello there! I apologize that it’s been a while since I’ve posted…again. Something you should know about me (if you don’t), is that I have chronic illness/pain. I go through periods where I don’t feel well, and they’re very unpredictable. So, because of that, I don’t have a regular posting schedule set. Also, when I say I say that I’m planning a specific post, it doesn’t always happen right away. So again, I apologize! I have missed reading everyone’s posts, and I’ve meant to get on here to do some reading much sooner/more often.

In this post, I am talking about one of the new L’Oréal pure clay masks. L’Oréal has a new line of Pure Clay masks. There are three different types. The type I will be talking about today, is the exfoliating and refinement one. It contains 3 pure clays and Red Algae. It claims to exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog/tighten pores. It also claims that, immediately you will see results. Your skin texture “appears refined and smooth,” as well as minimizing your pores.

The first time I tried this mask, I tried it from a sample foil packet (pictured above). I received this sample from a Target Beauty box. It’s actually one of 3 samples that were connected. I also have samples of the other two masks, I haven’t used those yet. I chose to use this one first, because I felt that it addressed my current skin care problems/concerns. I’ve been having a bit of a rough time with my skin lately. I don’t know if it’s hormonal or Rosacea. I also thought maybe it could be something related to one of my autoimmune diseases. I inserted a picture below, that shows the back of the foil packet. It lists the ingredients and gives the instructions. It also talks about how you can use each of the three masks on different parts of your face to address different concerns.

The mask itself, is an orange-red color. It actually contains volcanic rock to exfoliate the skin. When you rinse the mask off, you rinse it off with water using circular motions. Like it says in the picture above, you leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, and it can be used up to 3 times a week. I do notice a visible difference after using this mask. However, I did use this mask before really figuring out what I think is going on with my skin (I don’t know for sure). I just thought maybe my pores were clogged, because I do tend to sweat a lot from my face. I feel like this mask helped with what it could, and I will continue to use it. I’ve also been adding something else into my skin care regime that is helping my actual problem, but I will talk more about that later in another post. Otherwise, having something like hormonal acne or Rosacea, requires a different fix. I have an appointment with a Dermatologist at the beginning of next month (April), to be further evaluated.

I’ve actually been using this mask for about a month now. After using this foil packet, I actually went out and bought the full-size jar. I don’t have a picture of the jar in this post, but it’s a glass jar, which I think is really nice for the price. It costs about $12 or $13, which isn’t too bad at all, especially since it works so well. I bought mine from Rite-Aid when it was 40% off. I think it’s good to check the ads each week for different sales they’re having in the drugstores, you can save quite a bit of money that way. I have an app on my phone, called Shopular. I can quickly access each ad from my local drugstores that way.

In conclusion, I definitely do recommend this face mask. I would like to try the other two soon. If you would like first impression posts on those masks, let me know in the comments down below. The other two masks are the Pure-Clay Mask Detox & Brighten Treatment Mask, and the Pure-Clay Mask Purify & Mattify Treatment Mask. The Detox & Brighten is for “dull and tired-looking skin” which contains charcoal. The Purify & Mattify is for oily and shiny skin, which contains Eucalyptus. My skin is the normal to dry type. I don’t know what “normal” skin really is though. I don’t like that label for skin really because everyone is so different. Though I’m not sure how much of a help I would be, reviewing a product for oily skin. I tend to get a tad oily in my t-zone, only in the hot, humid summer months.

If you have tried any of the L’Oréal Pure Clay masks, please let me know down in the comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts on them as well. Also, feel free to just say hello in the comments. I hope you enjoyed reading this post! Until next time!

Current Skin Care Favorites

Hello there! Happy Weekend! I hope everyone is having a great one. The weather here in Michigan has been really gloomy. I need some sunshine, seriously! I like winter because it’s cold, and I usually get really warm easily. Though I’m actually looking forward to spring. I’ve already been shopping for makeup/clothes with spring colors in mind.

Anyway, I haven’t worn makeup all week because I’ve been sick. I am feeling a lot better now though. As I was trying out a new face mask tonight, while watching The Devil Wears Prada and munching on some snacks, I thought it would be a good idea to write a post about my current skin care favorites. I have been getting into skin care more now that I’m in my 30’s. When I was younger, I was all about the makeup only. Now I get excited when I get new skin care products to try out from my monthly beauty subscriptions, though I’m only subscribed to Ipsy at the moment. For this post, I’m just going to briefly describe each of my favorites.

Current Face wash : Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

Charcoal is a popular ingredient used nowadays for skin care. It’s known to draw out the impurities in your skin. Bioré claims…

“draws out and traps 2x more dirt and impurities than a basic cleanser, purifying pores to leave your face deeply cleaned and your skin tingly-smooth. Pores are twice as clean after just one use.”

This cleanser is to be used daily, and I have been using it for a long time now. I do have a couple other face washes that I’ve tried and like, but I use this one the most. I love the way it makes my skin feel fresh and clean after each use.

Curent Skin Care Tool: Ulta Dual Action Cleansing Brush System

I love using this brush to cleanse my skin. I don’t use it every time I wash my face, but it’s great for exfoliating. You can use any cleanser or scrub with it, and it comes with 2 different brush attachments. One being the soft bristle brush used for cleansing, and the other is a deep foam pad that is used for gentle cleansing or for deep application of your moisturizer. It runs on 4 AA batteries, and you can purchase replacement brushes as well. This is one of the more inexpensive cleansing brushes, it’s only $25 and I’m very happy with it!

Curent Acne Spot Treatment: Benzac Blemish Clearing Hydrator

I picked up this secret gem from The Dollar Tree, though it’s sold at stores like Walmart, Target, and Walgreens. The same exact bottle I have, sells at Walmart for almost $6, and I found it for only $1! It works wonders! It contains 0.5% Salicyclic Acid. So if you’re skin responds well to that, definitely give it a try! It also contains East Indian Sandlewood Oil. It’s lightweight and absorbs really well. The thing that I really noticed, is that it never dried out my skin, and my blemishes improved within at least a couple of days. It’s not something I use everyday, only for a couple of days when I get a blemish. So, it is possible to dry out your skin if you’re using it every day.

Current Facial Serum: Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum

This is one of those skin care items that I received from Ipsy. What I love about it, is that it absorbs quickly and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. You can use this alone, or under your makeup as a primer, and you can use this under your daily moisturizer. Honey is good for your skin. It contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It really helps in retaining moisture to the skin.

Current Daily Moisturizer: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (Combination Oily to Oily Skin)

This daily face moisturizer is a long time favorite for many. I remember my Mom using this when I was a kid. It’s always been her favorite, and now it’s mine. It’s fragrance-free and oil-free. It absorbs quickly, and makes my skin feel so soft. This is what I use before I apply my makeup. It’s important to moisturize before applying your makeup to get a smooth application.

Current Eye Cream: Caudalie Resveratrol [LIFT] Eye Lifting Balm

I got this from the Sephora beauty subscription a long time ago. It’s a tube that’s only 0.16 FL. OZ. but it’s lasted me a long time! I’m just about out of it, and that makes me sad. When it comes down to it, I will probably cut the end of the tube off to get even more product. Caudalie is an expensive brand, I’d love to purchase it, but I usually try out and use whatever eye cream comes my way from subscriptions. After using this one, I will try to use up my Purlisse one, and that one is actually a full-size. It’s hard for me to tell when eye creams actually work, but this one is very moisturizing.

Favorite Makeup Remover: Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water

I had read many reviews raving about this product, so I just had to pick it up and try it out for myself. I will definitely be repurchasing it again! It works so well at removing makeup. It’s oil, alcohol, and fragrance free. The one I use has a pink cap. They have one with a blue cap too, I think it’s supposed to be used to remove waterproof makeup. I had tried a couple of other brands, but this one is my favorite. I use this in place of makeup remover wipes. Now I just use makeup remover wipes to remove swatches, when testing out different products.

Current Toner: Pixi Glow Tonic (Not pictured in featured image.)

Last but not least, the ever popular  Pixi Glow Tonic. Another skin care product that receives a lot of hype, and I understand why. I don’t have it pictured in my featured image at the beginning of this post because I put it somewhere, and have misplaced it. I’m actually running really low on it and need to pick up another bottle. It’s very gentle and alcohol free. It exfoliates, brightens, and smooths the skin. You just put some on a cotton pad, and sweep it across your face, neck, and décolletage. I’m thinking about trying the the Glow Tonic To-Go, which contains the pre-soaked pads. It sounds very convenient!

Well that’s all I have for you in this post. I hope that you enjoyed reading it. What are some of your favorite skin care products? Let me know in the comments down below. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!
